I wish to speak with you about taking on two more assistants at the bakery. Farah has already expressed an interest in helping out, and I suspect Genis will as well once I bring up the possibility with him. They are both excellent cooks and I am certain they will be an asset to the business.

Genis, Raine had mentioned that you have been looking for ways to occupy yourself here... would you be interested in assisting me at the bakery? I thought you might enjoy the chance to practice your cooking skills.

Oh, sure! If you need the extra help, I'd be glad to. It'll be nice to cook for the village, anyway.

I am certain Raine will be pleased to hear that you have something to do. She was worried that you might become bored here otherwise.

Did something happen, Kamui? Forgive me for saying so, but you do not sound well at all.

Between homework, sort-of helping on patrols and making sure Raine and Albert eat, I don't think I've time to get bored, really.

How are the two of them holding up during all of this?

Albert just got back from his kidnapping, and- well, they did a really bad number on him. A lot worse than how I turned out. But Raine and I are doing our best to make sure he's comfortable, and getting better.

As for Raine... Well, she remembers to eat now, anyway.

I assume Raine has been taking care of his healing since his return... do not let her strain herself. If Albert needs any additional healing, please let me know so that I can help. I worry about how all of this is affecting her, especially since she does not tend to speak much about her own feelings.

She's been healing him regularly, yes. I've been trying to make sure she doesn't overexert herself... But yeah, I'll do that.

... I worry about how she is too, with everything that's been going on, but... She doesn't seem to want to talk about it. Maybe she needs an adult to talk to? I don't know.

I have tried speaking with her; however, she seems reluctant to speak about anything that is directly related to her own emotions and tries to change the subject whenever I bring it up. I am afraid I cannot force her to discuss something that she would rather avoid.

Yeah, she does that. I can't force her to talk about it either, but I don't think it'll be ideal for her to keep it all to herself. [He sighs]

Perhaps what she needs is some sort of distraction that will force her to get her mind off of the subject.

Albert said something similar... That my sister needs a hobby or something. Problem is we can't figure out what it is she should be doing.

Is there anything in particular that she seems to enjoy? Any special talents she has?

[This is Genis, at a loss for words.]

... She seems to like cooking, though you know how that turns out for her...

[Grasping at the straws here.]

We could always try teaching her how to cook properly...

It's not that she can't cook. I mean, when she wanted to make that cake for Albert and I was still resting up from my kidnapping, she managed to make a fairly good one. As long as she's watched like a hawk. She tends to experiment and improvise on the recipes, if you don't.

Then it seems like what we need to do is ensure that she follows the recipe to the letter rather than trying to add her own twist to it. Improvising can come once she has learned the basics of proper cooking.

I have a feeling that she thinks doing whatever the recipe says is - well, boring. Her twists involve... unorthodox ingredients. [Another sigh.]

She needs an outlet for her creativity, I think.

Has she ever tried her hand at any sort of art? Drawing, painting, that sort of thing?

Not that I know of, actually... Though she might want to try that. I'll mention it to her later!

Those would allow her to be as creative as she wants without fear of making others ill.

Well, that's the idea! That, and she'll at least have something to distract her from all her work.

Why don't you suggest it to her, then? She is more likely to listen if it is coming from you than from me, I think.

I will, but really? I thought she might listen to you more. I mean, I've been bugging her about not working too hard and stuff, so perhaps if it came from someone else...?

Hmm... I don't see the harm in trying. Perhaps I could even pick up some supplies from the store to help her get started. I have done a bit of painting myself, so I know what sort of paints and brushes would be best for a beginner.

She can't say no to trying if we went to the trouble of getting her supplies, after all. [Mission Make Raine Draw is go!] But yeah, I'll ask her about it later!

I will visit the store later today to see what I can find there. In the meantime, you can make the suggestion to see how she responds to the idea.
